Rev. Maria Gordon
Rev. Maria Gordon is currently serving as the Pastor of Mt. Carmel Prayer Chapel following her evacuation from Mali (West Africa) due to political instability. While in Mali, she was functioning as the Assistant Pastor of a full gospel church and worked alongside international missionaries to proclaim the gospel message to the local populace which were predominantly 90 percent Muslim. Some of her more notable accomplishments in that ministry included instituting English as a Second Language program, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees, financing a church construction project, and leading an outreach program.
As a Chaplain with the Prince William County Police Department, Rev. Gordon was charged with providing pastoral care to police officers, their families, and victims of crimes and traumatic incidents. Previous pastoral assignments included serving as Assistant Pastor, Hope Aglow Church, Woodbridge, VA; Children’s Pastor, End Times Church, Dumfries, VA; and Associate Pastor at Jesus Saves Lighthouse Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Born in the Philippines, Rev. Gordon has served as the Senior Pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, Siquijor, Philippines; and Associate Pastor, Christ is Lord Interdenominational Church, Cebu City, Philippines.
Rev. Gordon had a divine encounter with God during a crisis situation involving a tidal wave in the Philippines back in 1976 which led her to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life. It is following that life-and-death situation where God supernaturally saved her from drowning that she vowed to serve the Lord and to work in the calling of Pastoral Ministry.
God has imparted his gifting, anointing, and a heart of compassion upon Rev. Gordon to win the lost for Christ as well as to disciple those in the faith to grow in grace. She has a servant’s heart to assist wherever a need exists, as well as a driving passion to come to the rescue of those who are less fortunate to include the elderly, the infirmed, children, and those who are broken in their spirit.
Among her many accomplishments following her licensing and ordination as a minister of the gospel, Rev. Gordon pioneered the construction and development of a church in the Philippines where she had served as a senior pastor. While there, she conducted several speaking engagements throughout the Philippines to spread the gospel message, was sought out as a guest speaker at several ministry events in the Philippines, ensured the professional growth of associate pastors assigned to her tutelage, evaluated the professional performance of intern pastors, and provided assessments of their capabilities in consideration of future church-related assignments and responsibilities. She was highly successful in establishing an effective training program designed to challenge, increase knowledge, and strengthen the character of those called out for ministry work. While in the United States, she has spoken at several Women’s Aglow events.
By the grace and favor of God upon her life, Rev. Gordon was able to obtain an academic scholarship that financed her formal education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Education/Theology.
Rev. Gordon is married to Fougere Gordon, the Senior Pastor of Mt. Carmel Prayer Chapel and a previous fellow Police Chaplain. They are the parents of two adult children.
