Rev. (Dr.) Fougere Gordon, PhD
Rev. (Dr.) Fougere Gordon is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Carmel Prayer Chapel and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the church. In his current capacity, he is charged with the responsibility of providing leadership, training, and oversight of the various ministries, the professional development of assistant Pastors and volunteer staff, and establishing a formalized Deacon Program. Prior ministry assignments included serving as an Assistant Pastor, Hope Aglow Church, Woodbridge, VA; Associate Pastor, End Times Church, Dumfries, VA; and Associate Pastor, Jesus Saves Lighthouse Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Following his ordination to the Gospel Ministry in 1992, God has used Rev. (Dr.) Gordon to serve extensively in a pastoral role in order to help the congregation with church growth and finances, supporting the destitute/homelessness, and professionalizing church administration and volunteer staff.
Within the local community, Rev. (Dr.) Gordon had served as a Volunteer Chaplain with the Prince William County Police Department where he provided pastoral care to police officers, their families, and victims of crimes and other traumatic incidents. He had also previously functioned as a Reserve Police Officer with full police powers for the States
of Indiana and Texas following his graduation from the Indianapolis Police Academy in Indiana.
Rev. (Dr.) Gordon is a retired Lieutenant Colonel after having dedicated over 24 years in the service of his country in Korea, Germany, the Pentagon, and other locations within the United States. Key past assignments as an Army Officer included serving as Executive Officer, Counterdrug Officer, Inspector General, Deputy Provost Marshal, Intelligence Officer, Company Commander, and Platoon Leader. In his professional role as an Army Officer, Rev. (Dr.) Gordon had excelled in a variety of challenging assignments which have culminated in the issuance of countless awards including the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and multiple Army Achievement Medals. He is also a retired Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Government with past assignments in Iraq, Haiti, Mali, South Africa, and Afghanistan. Rev. (Dr.) Gordon has earned two Meritorious Honor Awards since his inception as a U.S. Government official.
Rev. (Dr.) Gordon received several academic scholarships that financed his formal education. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Forensics Science, and was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Indiana University ROTC Program. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from St Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas, and a PhD in Psychology through Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. He is a graduate of the Military Police School, Inspector General training, Intelligence, Counterterrorism, Public Affairs, Security Manager, and Attaché Officer Courses. Other training included Dale Carnegie, the Indianapolis Police Academy, French language from the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute, and countless other courses and seminars within the theological arena.
Rev. (Dr.) Gordon is married to the former Maria Ovida, a previous fellow Police Chaplain, and they have two adult children.
